Haroon Shaikh, CPA

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Haroon Shaikh has over 45 years of professional experience, specifically in financial reporting, technical accounting, tax planning, and business development. He currently serves as HRSS CPAs’ Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. Prior to him establishing HRSS, Haroon gained invaluable experience working with two Big Four firms in Houston. He worked as a Senior Manager in the Assurance practice of KPMG and an Audit Manager at Deloitte. He brings an informed, broad and deep level of expertise to clients’ strategic and tactical issues and instills a client-focused approach at HRSS, always focusing on the client’s best interests.

For a significant portion of his career, he has provided auditing and accounting services to a diverse mix of public and privately held companies in a wide range of industries. Whether it be navigating mergers and acquisitions, offering proven negotiation skills, tapping capital resources, structuring ownership succession plans, or providing strategic and family wealth planning, Haroon has advised many small, medium, and large B2B businesses, with a niche focus on middle-market and privately held businesses in the U.S.

Haroon also works closely with not-for-profit organizations, including those that require audits under the following provisions:

Being an active member of numerous industry associations, this allows him to stay abreast of any industry and regulatory changes.

Haroon loves to stay actively involved in his local Texas community, holding a variety of board seats and leadership roles in organizations in Houston and giving back whenever he can.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Farrukh is the Senior Tax Services Partner and member of the firm’s senior leadership. In this role, he has overall responsibility for the quality of services, operations profitability, strategy execution, protect clients’ interests and welfare of the employees. During his 27-year career with HRSS, Farrukh has built a reputation for value-added, ingenious and focused service to entrepreneurial companies and their management teams. Farrukh specializes in entity tax planning and structuring, international taxation, federal, state and local tax returns, and IRS representation. Farrukh has worked with a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, retail, healthcare and professional services.

Prior to joining HRSS in 1993, Farrukh worked in the financial reporting department at Hess Corporation. Farrukh has served as Director at large on the Board of Texas Society of CPAs.

Nadeem Ahmed

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Nadeem has 21 years of business consulting and tax experience advising high net worth individuals and closely held businesses on issues related to tax planning and compliance, including federal and multi-state taxes, business valuation, and new business planning. He has extensive experience working with consolidated tax returns, transaction structuring, and buy and sell agreements. He has experience in a variety of industries, including wholesale, retail, distribution, hotels, real estate, fuel suppliers and fast food chains.

Partner - Sales Tax Advisory Services

Sohail Ali

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Sohail manages the firm’s State and Local Taxes Group. He has been associated with HRSS for over 20 years with focus on Sales Tax audit representation. During this time, he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience in sales and other state tax rules, working on projects for many locally based businesses. He has worked extensively on the state tax appeals process where taxability determinations have been one of the main areas of concentration. He has been successful with the administrative law judge hearing process at reversing initial state auditor findings that resulted in favorable tax treatments for the taxpayer. He is also extensively involved in obtaining settlements of tax assessments with the state.

Sohail also supervised the firm’s participation in the Contract Audit program run by the State of Texas to conduct Sales Tax audits of various businesses for three years and was primarily responsible for reviewing Audits for quality control prior to final submission and liaising with Contract Supervisor at the State Comptrollers` Office for all audits contracted to the firm to ensure successful completion.

Prior to joining HRSS in 1999, Sohail was involved in the financial services sector in Pakistan for over 15 years. He was member Board of Directors of three public institutions in Pakistan, that operated as approved non-bank financial institutions with the Central Bank of Pakistan and engaged in offering financial services to industrial/commercial sectors.
